Susie is an Economic Adviser within the Energy Group of the UK Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (previously the Department of Trade and Industry). The Department has responsibility for energy policy within the UK and recently published a White Paper setting out the UK approach to tackling the twin challenges of maintaining security of energy supplies whilst achieving targets for reducing the carbon emissions associated with energy use.
Susie undertakes economic analysis of issues associated with the carbon impact of UK energy use and has evaluated the relative merits of a range of policy mechanisms to reduce these emissions. These include measures to promote lower carbon generation of heat and electricity using distributed generation and renewables, measures to reduce householder demand for energy and policies to promote the development and deployment of a portfolio of low carbon technologies.
Prior to joining Energy Group Susie has worked as an economist on areas including UK productivity and competition/ anti-trust regulation. Susie has a BA in Economics from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Economics from University College London.
